Hemangiomas are vascular anomalies that most commonly appear during infancy, increase in size during the first years of life, and regress during childhood.

50% of hemangiomas regress by the age of 5, 70% by the age of 7, and 90% by the age of 9.
Nevertheless, in 50-75% of cases, some aesthetic issue remains after their regression.
If such a lesion does not regress and causes a functional problem or is aesthetically bothersome, it is treated in various ways after being evaluated by a plastic surgeon.

Treatment may include multiple sessions with a specialized laser or injection of pharmaceutical substances into the affected area. If the above methods do not yield the desired result or are contraindicated, then surgical treatment is performed.
