Basal cell skin cancer is a skin lesion that appears in various parts of the body, but most commonly on the face, upper and lower limbs, and back. This lesion usually appears in older individuals but can also be found in younger people. Extensive sun exposure, various genetic factors, and multiple other causes predispose to the development of this skin cancer.

Removal is performed under local anesthesia, the lesion is sent for histopathological examination, and the patient returns home post-operatively. In cases where the lesion is extensive and requires significant removal of skin and subcutaneous tissues, plastic surgery can utilize a variety of surgical flaps, which are cleverly designed in the adjacent skin to achieve closure of the problematic area.
