Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition in which the body produces large amounts of sweat in various areas, most commonly the armpits, palms, and soles of the feet.
The underlying cause of hyperhidrosis is generally unknown; however, in some cases, it is associated with specific medical conditions.
The plastic surgeon will examine the area, assess the severity of the condition, rule out potential pathological causes, and propose solutions.
Treatment is primarily performed by injecting Botox into the problematic area. The area is stained with a special dye to identify the pores of the sweat glands, and then specific and controlled amounts of Botox are injected with a very fine needle. The method is safe, painless, effective, and lasts for 4-6 months.
