A forehead lift aims to elevate the eyebrows and reduce forehead lines and furrows to achieve a smoother and more youthful appearance. This procedure is commonly combined with other facial surgeries, primarily blepharoplasty. Originally, forehead lifts were performed with an incision within the hairline that extended from one ear to the other. Today, however, forehead lifts are typically performed endoscopically, using 3-5 very small incisions within the hairline and specialized instruments to lift and reposition the skin and muscles of the forehead.

A forehead lift can be performed under sedation or light general anesthesia and lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours. The upper eyelids may show bruising and swelling for about a week after the procedure. Most often, surgical clips and palpable small surgical screws are placed within the hairline during the surgery, which are removed in the doctor’s office 10-14 days after the procedure, a completely painless process.
